Prof. Robert Casson

AI Casson is an internationally-recognized ophthalmic clinician scientist and Head of Discipline of Ophthalmology at the University of Adelaide. AI Casson has expertise particular expertise in retinal biology and bioenergetic neuroprotection. Recent discoveries from his laboratory include the neuroprotective effect of red light on retinal disease models acting via quantum interactions at the electron transport chain in mitochondria.

AI Casson will identify how the capabilities developed in the Centre can further improve experimental and clinical imaging. Applying the techniques from quantum biology to specific problems in vision will lead to new understanding of the ultra-dast biochemistry underlying vision. AI Casson will contribute to the Quantum-enabled diagnostics and imaging program.
