Simon Devitt

Simon has been focused on the construction and operation of large-scale quantum computers and communications networks since 2003. He has worked on algorithm analysis, architecture designs for quantum computing and communication networks, and device modelling for specific qubit systems and characterisations protocols for qubit arrays. In recent years, his focus has shifted to the software side of quantum computing.

Outside of academic research, Simon has developed a citizen science game to help program and compile quantum computers using topological quantum error correcting codes, run a podcast interviewing researchers in quantum technology worldwide, and, in 2016, founded a consultancy firm with researchers at RMIT and Caltech to help bring quantum technology into the commercial sector.
