Sam Roberts

Sam is a former postgraduate student at the University of Sydney under the supervision of Professor Stephen Bartlett.

His research focused on a fundamental issue in condensed matter theory to understand and classify quantum phases. He examined a class of phases which are characterized by symmetry protected topological (SPT) order. While these systems in 1D are well understood, much less is known about higher dimensional SPT phases.

He hoped to find important features of these ordered states including how they may be used as resources for measurement based quantum computation.
