Claire Edmunds (she/her)

Claire works as a quantum physics postdoctoral researcher at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. She was awarded an Erwin Schrödinger Center for Quantum Science & Technology (ESQ) fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Science for this work. Her research is based on using trapped ions for quantum simulation and information.

Claire's research focus is experimentally exploring quantum simulation for higher-dimensional qudit-based spin chains using trapped calcium ions. As a part of this work, Claire has developed routines to characterise noise affecting quantum devices, and demonstrated quantum control techniques that improve the robustness of qubits and quantum algorithms to such noise. She has also done significant theoretical work to unify exisiting theoretical frameworks with practical experimental setups.
