Australia’s first National Quantum Strategy

The Australian Government has released the first National Quantum Strategy to set out a long-term vision for how Australia will take advantage of the opportunities of quantum technologies.

The Government has been guided by a National Quantum Advisory Committee made up of 15 leaders from business, science, technology and government, including EQUS Director Professor Andrew White

The Advisory Committee has contributed their expertise across research and development, commercialisation, investment, supply chains and national security to guide the government’s strategy to realise Australia’s quantum opportunity and coordinate the quantum capability across research, industry and government.

There are five priority areas in the strategy:

  • Investing in research and development and commercialisation
  • Securing infrastructure and materials
  • Growing a skilled workforce
  • Supporting national interests
  • Promoting a trusted, ethical, inclusive ecosystem
