Science communication and media training workshop

The EQUS Public Engagement Committee are offering a 3-day intensive science communications and media workshop for EQUS members.

When: 12–14 February 2024; roughly 12pm–4pm Monday, 10am–4pm Tuesday, 10am–4pm Wednesday, 6pm–8pm Wednesday evening event
Where: UQ city campus, 88 Creek St, Brisbane 4000; Wednesday evening event location TBA
Cost: Free; the Public Engagement Committee will fund flights and accommodation for interstate attendees, and catering will be provided

This workshop will be outcome-focused.  Details are still being finalised, and may vary depending on the experience of attendees, but by the end of the workshop attendees should have produced:

An article on their (or another attendee’s) research, suitable for pitching to The Conversation, ABC Opinion, Phys.org, etc.
A 3MT-style pitch of their research (or other recent research) to be presented at an event for EQUS members and friends on the final evening of the workshop (14 February)

The workshop may also cover skills for radio, and general public speaking and science writing.  It will be delivered by members of the Public Engagement Committee and guest presenter(s).

EOIs have now closed.  A program will be provided to attendees by the end of January.
